Your Guide To Celebrate Spring Has Sprung in Amsterdam

Something happens to Amsterdam when the sun starts to warm up. As shigh rays make their way back on the streets, many a Amsterdammer bust windows open and radically gets their toosh outside. Bike rides are joyous, terraces are filling up, days are longer, nights are richer, and the whole city just becomes more of a flirt. Yes ladies and gentleman, spring has sprung, ever so seductively, and so we are here to celebrate. A few suggestions.


BLOESEMPARK.

The blossoming Japanese cherry blossom trees are gracing Amsterdamse Bos with their beauty again. You (and your Instagram) dont want to miss this sight for sore eyes. Open 7 days a week, this place makes quite the picnic spot. Juice, any one?

KONINGSNACHT + DAG.

26 (night) + 27th of April

Famous for our open mindedness, Koningsdag is a day where we do our reputation justice. The whole city is celebrating, there is so much to do, see, party, buy. Having a stroll through the city is a party by itself, whether you are drawn to the stalls of people selling their stuff, drinks or food in the centre, live music, or the more serious parties in and around the city that require tickets, make sure you block this one in your agenda because you whether you want it or not you will not be able to miss it.

KINDERBOERDERIJ

Not just for the kids, this one. Who is immune to the cute-factor of baby animals, and especially this season? Speaking of good energy. Oh and by the way, yoga with goats is a real thing. It happens here to. Fascinating.

HERDENKINGSDAG + BEVRIJDINGSDAG.

4 + 5th of May

The opportunity to think about peace, war and freedom. May fourth, Memorial day, is where we commemorate all courageous lives shed since World War II, with cross country two minutes of silence at 8 PM. Every one is welcome to find this stillness together at Dam square, which is also to be followed on TV, radio, or online. The day after, Liberation day, we celebrate, and similar to Koningsdag, there will be many stages and parties in and around the city.

VONDELPARK OPENLUCHT THEATER.

Opening 5th of May

Starting with the Kinder Bevrijdingsdag Festival, from the 5th of May all the way until the 11th of September, the there will be festivals, cabaret shows, film, dance, music, laughter, all of the ways to celebrate we can be outside without a coat.

WESTERGASTERRAS.

Rollende keukens: 9-13th of May

Every first sunday of the month, there is the Free Sunday Market at the Westergas, but at the second weekend of may, there will be a market way more comprehensive than the regular. Kitchens will be rolling all throughout the park and so will you, from stand to bar to live music to dj.

The National Ballet never seizes to inspire. This time, opera, ballet, drinks and a  walking dinner merge together for an eclectic evening, topped off with an afterparty.
