The Indian Superfood


You’ve probably seen our new Turmeric, Orange, and Black Pepper Shots in store, but what exactly is turmeric? Turmeric (curcuma longa) is a southern asian plant that has been used for centuries due to its anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant properties. That means its great for joint health, arthritis, lessening the effects of irritable bowel syndrome, warding off wrinkles, fatigue, clearing up acne, curing headaches,  and stimulating blood circulation. It’s also great for brain health as it’s been known to help protect against Alzheimer’s. Turmeric, the main ingredient in curry, is also an excellent source of manganese and iron! Two teaspoons contain a whopping 17 and 10 percent of the daily recommended intake. It’s also a great source of vitamin B6, dietary fibre, potassium, vitamin C, copper,  and protein. As if we needed another reason to enjoy a good vegan curry!
